Our three-hour program for real estate agents features a guided walking tour of Portland’s West End neighborhood followed by a presentation about local architectural styles and essential facts about Portland’s historic district ordinance. Greater Portland Landmarks’ docent Tom Caron of Northeast Inspection Services leads the walking tour. GPL staff provides the presentation.

The Understanding Our Historic Buildings and Historic Districts class is currently on hold. Classes will likely begin again in September, 2010. Please check back for updated information.
Note: The class begins at the Thomas Brackett Reed statue on Western Promenade promptly at 10:00 am. Be prepared for walking. Wear appropriate shoes and bring along layered clothing during colder weather. Car pooling is recommended; two hour parking is available on Carroll Street. The second part of the class takes place in Greater Portland Landmarks’ offices at 93 High Street.
$30 per person; limit 12 per class.This fun and informative course is certified by the Maine Real Estate Commission and offers three hours of continuing education credit.
