The goal of Preservation Pages is to bring people together to discuss books that relate to themes of preservation: place, design, urban planning, and other topics that we at Greater Portland Landmarks think about every single day. Each gathering will be in the greater Portland area in a site that shares some connection with the content of the book for a local context. The club is free to join and there’s no commitment, just come to the ones you’re interested in!
This month we’re reading The Color of Law: A forgotten history of how our government segregated America by Richard Rothstein. The Color of Law is an exploration of the many struggles faced by American cities today that can be traced directly back to the official housing policies put in place in the 1930s.
